Tough Guys
When their mom said that the twins were in a “tough guy” tage, I told her, “Bring them into the studio and let me get some old boxing gloves off of Facebook Marketplace.” A vintage setting adds to these delightful children portraits!
Frenchie Love
When two beautiful ladies come into my studio, the portraits are amazing. Of course, one is a French Bulldog and if you do not think this dog is adorable, check your pulse because you’re dead, m’kay. Nothing says “love me, love my dog” more than a sort of “Mommy and Me” portrait session!
Homeschool Picture Day
Picture Day! At a regular school that means a rapid automtaic smile and it is on to the next child. But for homeschool groups, fewer number of students and more flexibility means not only can you have school pictures done, but more variety and genuine expressions. Read about one homeschool group’s experience with their Picture Day!
Bennett: Fine Art Portrait
Here are some images from Bennett’s portait session in studio, phootgraphed and edited as a fine art portrait in a vintage style. I prefer simplicity in portraits and to allow the subject to really be seen. I think that is important with children because who they are now quickly changes as they mature.
Meet Evie, a Pumi
Have you ever heard of a Pumi? It is a sheep herding dog that hails from Hungary and looks like it could be a stuffed toy! I recently did some formal portraits of litte Evie, a Pumi - while she was a wee bit nervous in unfamiliar surroundings, I think she came through like a champ! And, of course, when all was said and done - treat time!
Young Skater: a Portrait Study
“Oh, the weather inside ain’t frightful / In fact it’s purely delightful! / And as long the AC will go - Let it blow, let it blow, let it blow!” It may be summertime but in a studio it can be a snowy day on a frozen lake. Our champion skater, Zoey, performed beautifully in this studio portrait session. What scene can I make for you?
"Little Girls, Like Butterflies, Need No Excuse"
“One time around the block, two times around the clock, three times don’t cross the little lady.” Big, cheesy grins are for cellphone pics and Grandma. Childhood is a serious thing so something of like mood is perfectly fine for children. Studio portraiture is not simply “smile for the camera” - it is meant to evoke moods and be timeless.
Mother and Child Portrait Study: Courtney and Ruby
Courtney started with maternity portraits and now here is the finished product - she and her beautiful daughter, Ruby! People want to see pictures of themselves with their parents so they can study them for clues about themselves. A well-done portrait is that gift to them - and even their children!
In Studio Maternity Session: Courtney
Courtney opted for a studio maternity session. We went for two looks, a softer one and then something more edgy - both of which match her personality! She can hardly wait to meet her little daughter and I was happy to capture this time in her life for her. Look at this lovely woman!
Twins Are Coming
Twins are coming and Mom is ready to burst! But not before a maternity session to mark what is her last pregnancy with Babies Four and Five!
Kelee: Fashion + Maternity
Kelee is nearing the end of her pregnancy and I was fortunate to be the one to capture her beauty and strength in these portraits that show maternity can be fashionable. Check out her session here!
Baller: Sophie at the Net
Sophie is a baller with attitude and it shows in her portrait session. Capturing personalities is made easier when the person is in a setting that is comfortable and natural for them - which is why “the studio” should be anywhere. Check out more of her images from her time in front of the camera in this post.
Celebrate Your Child's Talent
Scout is a girl willing to take on learning to play the violin - and that’s no small feat! Her accomplishment is celebrated through a portrait. What a way to tell your child “You make us proud” and “Well done!”
Welcome to 2019, Welcome to the Studio
I am excited about the new year because it opens with a new home for Stephanie Richer Photography - my studio in downtown Powell! And I have a special offer to celebrate - read more here!
Studio Portraiture and Maternity Photography: Alannah's Study
Alannah and her lovely pregnant body allowed me to do a study of her in studio portraiture. It isn’t not your run-of-the-mill “photo shoot” but is that what you’re really looking for? Or do you want a work of art?
