Baller: Sophie at the Net

A while back I featured a portrait study of young Scout and her talents with the violin. At the same time, her sister, Sophie, was in my studio.

Sophie is a baller and volleyball is her calling. Don’t screw with her at the net, you’re just going to lose. Play like a girl? Yeah, what about it?

Now, these images were made in my physical studio in Powell. But the world is my studio so I could easily work in a gym, a stable, a dojo, or a dance studio. I have talked before about the concept of “studio anywhere,” especially with younger children, but it holds equally for the active subject where the setting may play a key role in the portrait.

Where do you want me to go next?
