“I leave you my portrait so that you will have my presence all the days and nights that I am away from you.”

- Frida Kahlo

How the Magic Happens . . .

There are two things I want you to have when you come to me:

  • A great experience.

  • Fantastic artwork that you will cherish - and possibly the next generation, as well.

Let me give you just the basic facts here . . .

Chances are you have worked with a photographer before, whether it was a wedding photographer or the company that came and took your child’s school picture, along with dozens of others in their class. Your participation was probably very simple - you chose an outfit and you showed up. Even if it was a mini-session at a Christmas tree farm, that is about all you did. And for that effort, what did you get? A package of mass-produced prints where, after you handed out some to relatives, you shoved the remaining 5x7s and wallets into a kitchen junk drawer because you did not need them but you did not have a choice but to get them along with what you did need? Maybe you got a link where you could download your digital files, or you got a thumb drive of them. What did you do with them? Most went on social media and your family and friends enjoyed them for a short time until newer posts on their scroll pushed them further and further out of mind. Or perhaps you wanted to print some but you were not sure how to get them from your computer to a kiosk at Costco, and just what size would work anyway?

Let’s Make This Your Session . . . And No One Else’s

STEP 1

We start with a consultation. Grab a beverage, get comfortable, and let’s think about three questions to answer:

  1. Why do you want these portraits made?

  2. Where will they live in your home?

  3. What would set them apart from anything you have done before?

Your portrait session is geared to your expectations. In learning what those are then your session will be geared to meeting them and from that we can identify what needs to come together to make that happen, whether it is deciding where to have the session, what clothing will be used, or whether a special setting needs to be arranged.

STEP 2

Now we can fire up the camera and press the shutter in the photography session.

What is important to me is that during your session, you are comfortable and having fun. This is why I do not use pre-determined timed session. Unless you are a professional model, you need time to “loosen up,” if you will. A small child may need time to overcome some “stranger danger” feelings. If we are outdoors, the weather may require breaks. A family dog may need to make a trip outside for - ahem - “necessities.” Remember, we have set the goals in the consultation - let’s take our time to achieve those while also feeling comfortable enough to try something spontaneous and have a few laughs. It is all about quality.

STEP 3

Take a break and then come back to look at your proofs and make some image selections.

As with the consultation, let’s grab a beverage and settle down to view your images. These are not finished pieces, not yet - you will have the chance to view each and decide which will become that canvas on the wall or which will be featured in your custom album. You select those images that will become your artwork - and careful, you may fall in love with all of them! We will finalize your order, collect your payment, and determine what delivery options work best for you.

STEP 4

Now I get to work to make sure your order fulfillment is done in a timely and professional manner.

Before any image is printed in any way, it is professionally retouched. Custom artwork is done to my exacting standards.n I work with print labs and framers that service only professional photographers and artists, and all products are produced on archival media, ensuring your portrait art can be enjoyed for years. I admit, this is the step I like the most - when I can present you with your finished artwork and see your reaction. I have yet to be disappointed with the smiles and happy tears that not just seeing but holding your loved ones’ images bring out!

Pricing

Session Fee - $150

The Session Fee covers my time and skills to bring you through each of the steps listed above. It is paid at the consultation when you make the decision to go forward to tne next step (if you decide not to do so, no payment is due). Products are purchased separately. I strongly recommend that you make a deposit of $1500 as a print credit to be applied to your order reached in step three as I feel certain that you will love your images and want to purchase at least that much to get what you want.
