By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea . . .

Penelope has had enough of the sun and is heading home to fix tea.

Time for some street photography because it is summer and with summer comes memories of Orchard Beach in the Bronx and the smell of Coppertone tanning lotion. As well as the year 2018 when I photographed a wedding in the UK and while there visited Clacton-on-Sea. Clacton-on-Sea is one of your typical middle class holiday towns in Great Britain where people park their caravans (RVs), and make their way to the gravelly beaches, and everyone wants a “lolly” (ice cream). Allegedly, it is the butt of jokes - I guess the “smart crowd” would not deign to go there. But then, neither would they go to Gatlinburg and as touristy as that is, we still love it, amirite?

Anyway, I liked Clacton. Here are our redneck counterparts in the UK, God bless.

(Yes, I made up the captions. With street photography, I like to imagine people’s names and what their lives are like)

Reg and Vera, carefully caring their refreshments out to the sand.

Kayleigh is waiting for Callum to finish setting up the caravan.

Sharon has been spending her holidays at Clacton for the past 40 years.

Tommy is delighted to spend time with his Nan and Pa.

Aisha checks the time while keeping Jasmeen and Abdul safely by her.

Daisy makes her way over the sand, hoping she brought enough snacks for the tots.

Arthur and Susan think next year they might do Brighton.
