Vegas On the Hiwassee: Melina and Colby’s Wedding
For many couples, the pandemic brought heartache and headache to their plans for a perfect wedding day. Melina and Colby were no strangers to this – originally planned for early 2020, their wedding date was repeatedly postponed in the hopes that international travel would reopen. Melina is beautiful and Belgian, living and working in Las Vegas as an acrobatic dancer, recently of the show “Le Reve.” What she wanted most of all was to have her family come to the US to see her marry the brave and handsome Colby, a Las Vegas firefighter.
Damn that virus! Unfortunately, international travel did not open. The couple decided to finally go forward and have their close friends and family in Nevada travel to East Tennessee for what was a gorgeous wedding at Hiwassee River Weddings and Events in Delano. Why East Tennessee? Well, it seemed a great spot to be halfway between Nevada and Belgium, plus this couple loves the outdoors. They wanted something a bit more lush than what the Nevada desert could offer, so here they came. I got the impression that the folks were enjoying the change in atmosphere, with a little more humidity than they are used to and when a late afternoon thunderstorm popped up for a brief respite, out came the cellphones to film a phenomenon rarely seen in Vegas – rain!
And while not everyone whom Melina and Colby wanted to be there was present, it was still a joy-filled day of celebration for this lovely couple. Applause for Colby and his firefighter groomsmen for, well attempting to be as graceful as Melina and her fellow dancers!
I would like to add a shout out to Bill Collins, the proprietor of the venue, for working with Melina and Colby during the pandemic on their date changes. I appreciate professionalism like his and Bill is someone who treats his wedding couples like royalty.
