Luck, Cold, and a Milestone: Margaret and Zak's Proposal
The weather in the Smokies in the Spring is unpredictable. Zak wanted to have his marriage proposal to Margaret at Arch Rock along the Alum Cave Trail but snow and ice the night before closed US 441 and access to the trailhead. So we planned a different spot . . . until at the last minute, the road reopened! It was a cold and icy morning by the Arch but their love brought warmth and joy to the hikers that witnessed it!
