Un Cafecito con Azucar: Katrina and Myriam's Engagement Session in La Olas
I have a confession to make. I can fall in love with my wedding couples because as I have said before, being a photographer is the greatest job in the world, not simply because I get to pick up a camera but because I also get to meet people who bring joy. Joy to me, joy to those around them.
Such people as Myriam and Katrina.
I had the good fortune to have been contacted by Myriam for her July proposal to Katrina at Grotto Falls in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park … at precisely 6:21 pm. For more details, you can read about that story here.
But I received even more fortune when they chose me to photograph their wedding. Recently, I traveled to the Las Olas section of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to photograph them for their engagement session. They picked BREW Urban Cafe, a cool coffee shop. I really liked it because it truly is very Katrina and Myriam - laid back, hip, intelligent, upbeat and just …. joyful. Sometimes, couples can get too wrapped up in photo sessions, worrying more about whether they are “doing it right.”
You know what is “right?” A setting and a mood that reflects the couple. And here in their coffee shop, Myriam and Katrina nailed it. And let me be an old woman for a sec (because I am indeed older than dirt) - I think they are so gosh darn cute I want to slap them.
I had the opportunity to share un cafecito with them after the session, and both the coffee and conversation were stimulating. Katrina is a high school math teacher, dedicated to her vocation, while Myriam is a clinical psychologist, giving her all to help her patients. Whoa, two articulate professional women? Yeah, I want to share some time with people like that!
Later this year in October they will marry and I am going to be stoked to capture that. Check out these lovelies’ session!
