Here Comes the Sun: Emi and Matt's Marriage Proposal
They say the early bird catches the worm but for Matt, he got himself a life partner in the lovely Emi!
Matt had a notion: how about a marriage proposal as the sun came up over the Smokies with a view? Add to that the fact that the couple’s sweet dogs, Allie and Burrito, would also be along for the ride, the best place would be Newfound Gap. Newfound Gap sits on the Tennessee-North Carolina state line and offers a beautiful southeastern panorama.
I had scouted the area for Matt ahead of time and sent him pictures of where to go at Newfound. It was . . . brisk. With a wind chill, we were probably in the lower 40s/upper 30s. But come on, once the sun rose wouldn’t that make the world warmer . . . as well as their love?
Let’s see what happened:
Was Emi shivering from the cold, from the excitement - or both? Who cares, once again the mountains worked their magic and a new chapter in life began in them.
After the proposal we went to the nature trail behind the Sugarlands Visitor Center for a photoshoot. Emi and Matt are responsible people and know, that is one of two trails where one’s pups are allowed in the Smokies. Dogs can spook wildlife, and may bring in parasites and other things that can threaten the Smokies’ ecosystem. Allie and Burrito did very well - plus, all those new scents for them to check out!
I love when couples include their pets, as I am an animal lover, too. Look at those sweet faces! This is how you know a person has a good soul, when the pets are not left behind but join in on the fun. Emi and Matt are fine people for that!
And check out the magnificent sparkler Matt placed on Emi’s hand!
How can you not love Emi and Matt - oh, and Allie and Burrito! - with their love story?
And as is my tradition, let me close out this blog post with my usual:
Mazel tov, you crazy kids!
