All a Woman Needs . . . Rachel and Daniel's Engagement Session
Shorty has been there for Rachel. He’s carried her weight, you know? She can always rely on Shorty and she loves him for that. During the engagement session, I could see the bond between them. It’s . . . something special.
Oh, yeah, and Rachel loves her fiance, Daniel, too.
Wait, what?
Let me explain. When I spoke to Rachel about her engagement session, one thing she made clear - Shorty, her horse, had to be part of it.
And really, why not? I have done dogs, I have done cats, so cue the horse!
And to his credit, Shorty was a champ. He wasn’t happy seeing a lens pointed at him, not at first, but eventually warmed up to the task and put his ears forward (which is always a good sign with horses).
The setting was unique - the session was done at the farm of Daniel’s cattle family in New Market, Tennessee. We got to make images by an old cabin in which Daniel’s great-grandfather was born. I think that is very cool, being able to bridge generations like that and have that connection.
Check it out . . . oh yeah, and watch where you step. Because, cows . . .
Hold on, didn’t I start this post with a mention of a special guy in Rachel’s life? Yes, yes, I did.
It was time for Shorty to join in on the fun, just in time for sunset. Up the hill they went.
It was an indigo sunset and I wanted to capture those colors for Rachel and Daniel, while still making sure Shorty would be seen, given his darker color.
Then it was time to just let that last light of the day wrap around Rachel and Daniel.
So what is all that a woman needs? Well, I reckon Rachel has it - her man, her horse, and a bright future!
Thanks to my international Colleague, Cathy Weatherston, for her assistance with this shoot. If you need a wedding or child photographer in Dublin, Ireland, she’s your ticket.
Rachel and Daniel will be getting married in a great venue in Sevierville, Swann Plantation - check them out!
